There is existing evidence that shows that changing your psychology changes your physiology. (Leaf, 2013; Lipton, 2016). Bruce Lipton, a Biologist and medical researcher, discovered and replicated the link between thoughts and structural changes in matter. He generalized his work to people dealing with physical illness and was able to document changes in physiology after subjects changed their habitual thoughts or beliefs. Specifically, Lipton showed that positive belief systems improve physiology and negative belief systems have a destructive effect on physiology (Lipton, 2016). â€‹
 

THE ROLE OF EMOTIONS AND OUR BODY 

Humans resonate with matter on a subatomic level, and such matter changes to harmonize with one’s dominant vibration or dominant emotion (Cooper, 2014). This natural law also applies to one’s emotional state. Negative emotional states attract negative outcomes and dis-ease states. Positive emotions attract positive outcomes and healthy cellular function (Pert, 2010). â€‹

EMOTIONS RELEASE NEUROCHEMICALS 

Pert (2010), discovered the role of emotions in the mind-body. She identified the opiate receptor by which peptides, chemicals released from emotions, alter the mind and body. Pert identified that emotions are electrochemical signals with the ability to alter the electricity and the chemistry of every cell in the body (Pert, 2010). Pert also linked the relationship between emotions and physics. Her research identified that the chemical signaling of neurotransmitters carry an electrical charge and that such a charge influences cellular interaction and function. Therefore, emotions have the potential to change the physical environment, both internally and externally. Pert concluded that endorphin vibrations, specifically bliss, create an internal resonance that leads the organism into divine union, and an optimal state of functioning (Pert, 2007).

Individuals who actively work to build an inner life, cultivating gratitude, love, and compassion through prayer and meditation have more fluidity in parasympathetic response, consequently achieving homeostasis more readily and experiencing physiological renewal more often. Research shows that by consciously bringing forth such emotions, developing such cellular memory, or metaphorically strengthening one’s spiritual muscle, one can experience increased spirituality, reducing psychological and physiological distress and negative health outcomes (Allen, 2018).
